Genesis 42

 ¹Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
 ²And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
 ³And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.
 ⁴But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.
 ⁵And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
 ⁶And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.
 ⁷And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.
 ⁸And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
 ⁹And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.
 ¹⁰And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.
 ¹¹We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.
 ¹²And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.
 ¹³And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.
 ¹⁴And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:
 ¹⁵Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.
 ¹⁶Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.
 ¹⁷And he put them all together into ward three days.
 ¹⁸And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:
 ¹⁹If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:
 ²⁰But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.
 ²¹And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.
 ²²And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.
 ²³And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.
 ²⁴And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.
 ²⁵Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.
 ²⁶And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.
 ²⁷And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.
 ²⁸And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?
 ²⁹And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,
 ³⁰The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.
 ³¹And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:
 ³²We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.
 ³³And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:
 ³⁴And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.
 ³⁵And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.
 ³⁶And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.
 ³⁷And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.
 ³⁸And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes. Joseph wept because he recognized his brothers that had, twenty years ago, sold him into slavery.... 

When God has a plan for you, do not be dismayed, do not give up on God, he knows how to work His plan. He will use them that have done you wrong to be a blessing to you without them even knowing that they are...

God is awesome beloved!

Even though he went through so much: sold into slavery, cast into prison, lied on, Joseph, because of God's plan was placed into a position of Power and Authority because man can disappoint, but God Anoints and Appoints!

 ²Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 

 ³But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 

 ⁴That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. 

 ⁵And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 

 ⁶But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 

 ⁷But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

 23Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

 24Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

 25Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

 26Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

 27Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

 28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

 29And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

 30And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

 31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

 32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

 33Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

 34But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

 35Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

 36Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

 37But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

 38Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

one of the most famous and widely misunderstood passages of scripture. God was stating that the punishment must fit the crime for all, with no favoritism.

“If one has done something worthy of being sat down, put away, that same punishment must be applied to everyone that falls into that category. You cannot punish some for the same thing, and allow others, because you favor them, to get away. That is wrong and it is sin to God”

it is not a green light to exact personal revenge

Romans 12:19
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

 39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

In contrast with seeking personal retribution, Jesus says the subject of God's kingdom does the opposite.

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

The subject is NOT self defense, but revenge

Colossians 3:21
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Galatians 5:26
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

To turn the other cheek is to trust God as Jesus does, to count on God to protect us, and to punish our enemies if that is what they deserve.

Romans 12:19
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

Do the opposite of what you would normally do. Thereby glorifying God, resisting the devil and doing good...

You have to, you must love all people, also remember you do not have to love the mess that they do. That is where so many get confused and get into trouble with God and allow the Devil and those that follow him to get away with (they think) their mess.

In all things be wise and get understanding

 41And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

 42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

 43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

Leviticus 19:18
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

This portion of scripture is perfect for this lesson and these teachings, trust not your own understanding, for it will fail you. Seek the wisdom, understanding with God and of God and these things will become more clear and you will be able to do all these things Christ commands us to do

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Making sure that your heart is right with God, and that you seek daily to do His will. When we do these things, we will not have time for mess, and messy people. We will find ourselves praying more for them, that God's will be done.

Remember that God will repay them that do you wrong, trust me, He sees it all and He keeps good, accurate records and they cannot lie to God and say it is not so, for He knows the hearts and minds of all men and all women
